Public transit is your best option.

The easiest way to get to the site is via public transit. The Expo 2015 site is just northwest of the center of town and easily accessible by subway using the Milan transit system called ATM (no relationship to the English meaning of "ATM"*).

From the center of town, just take the red (M1) line to the end of the line at Rho. Keep in mind that trains on this line split and some go to Bisceglie. You want to make sure you see the "Rho Fieramilano" on the train's display before getting on.

Rides to Rho are outside the Urban Fare Limit, so before entering the turnstyles, you'll want to purchase a 5 euro round-trip ticket instead of the usual 3 euro ticket for the rest of the system.

*If you need an automatic teller machine, look for the term "Bancomat."
